3 Gender-Neutral Haircuts You Can Ask For Today

Androgynous or gender-neutral haircuts are nothing new and I’m so thrilled they’re being celebrated. They give you the flexibility of feeling feminine or masculine depending on your mood. Let’s explore the best three.

The Pixie

The traditional “pixie” is associated with the feminine, but when a man wears it, it’s considered a “men’s cut”. The pixie comes in all shapes, sizes and styles and so much of it depends on the person’s head shape, hair texture and overall style and personality. A brunette pixie feels very different from a bleach blonde pixie or even a curly pixie.

My favorite type of short pixie that is gender-neutral is the one that is super short on the sides and longer on top.

Men, women and the non-binary can easily rock this hair no matter what texture your hair is.

The Shag, Mullet or Wolf Cut

No matter how you slice it (pun intended), the shag, mullet or wolf cut are similar haircuts. How much we cut or what shape we end up choosing largely depends on your comfort level. Some clients are ready for that massive change; while others are more conservative and want to maintain the length and density.

There is no right or wrong with this cut, and we want you to know that you shouldn’t feel pressured to look a certain way if it doesn’t feel right. Work with your stylist to carve out the shape that suits you and your lifestyle.

The Slicked Back Textured Bob

This is a version of the bob that is full of texture and movement when worn naturally. You can flip it to the left, right or part it in the centre. It cuts right below the ear. You can add wisps around the face or keep the bangs longer.

Anyone regardless of gender can rock this look. You can wear it down or slicked back with some pomade to highlight your features for a very Trinity-inspired look.
