Here are the 5 Haircuts We ARE Getting in 2023
Haircut trends come and go, but some have stuck around since the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, like the infamous shag, when most of us were cutting our hair in the kitchen with construction paper scissors. It all started with Miley Cyrus getting a mullet / shag / shullet cut by her mom in the bathroom while on a Zoom call with Sally Hershberger.
That was when I got my start on YouTube (2020!) and my pixie haircut tutorial video went viral. I knew so many would benefit from it and it gave me the momentum to keep putting out videos to help you with your hair.
We’re now in March 2023 and we’re finally getting a sense of what haircuts are making a splash and which are not okay to wear anymore. So many haircuts have evolved and hair is becoming a statement to wear proudly and boldly.
In this video we’re talking about the best 5 haircuts that we should all be trying out in 2023.
The Shag
Versatile, maintains your length, can wear your hair up or down, wash and go, minimal styling, face framing. What more can we say?
Long Layers
A long layered haircut is the most beautiful basic haircut in the world and it’s not going anywhere. Almost every long-haired celebrity in Hollywood like Cindy Crawford, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston, plus so many more, has had this haircut at one time or another. It’s timeless and beautiful.
Curtain Bangs
I know curtain bangs are not a haircut, but they have been so important in the way we wear our hair the past couple of years that they require a category all their own.
Side parts are ~apparently~ back, but clients still ask for curtain bangs and I just love the way they frame a face, no matter your face shape. The Bob
This is my favorite haircut of all time! Whether you want to wear it blunt or textured; with bangs or without, the bob is the most beautiful, cutest and sexiest haircut to have ever been created.
The 2023 bob is cut into a triangle shape, without removing any weight inside of the hair.
We’re moving away from layered bobs into more of an effortless and French je-ne-sais-quoi vibe. The Mullet
Finally, we have the mullet. This is not a shag. This mullet is the one leaning towards an exaggerated punk look with really bold shapes.
This is your mullet with baby bangs that go all the way to the side of the head, a shaved undercut, geometrical side burns and finished off with funky colors.
The best part about this haircut is that it is androgynous and works for men, women, and the non-binary. It’s an individual look that you can make all your own!
